Estoril Classics, a must see event

Estoril circuit is just outside the charming city of Lisbon in Portugal and the home of several interesting races duels in both auto and moto. It’s the home of Ayrton Senna’s first victory (1985), a stunning battle between Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna (1988), Ricardo Patrese’s spectacular “flight” (1992) and Jacques Villeneuve’s incredible overtake of Michael Schumacher (1996) to name the most notable. While F1 is back in Portugal, but in the newest racetrack in the Algarve region, Estoril is still very much alive with several professional and armature competitions.

Estoril Classics is one of them and it’s the October marquee event. Created in 2017 with the aim of bringing the world’s most important classic cars and competitions to the Estoril Circuit, Estoril Classics quickly became a mandatory stop on the itinerary of all classic car and motorbike lovers.

Besides the direct impact of this event, caused by the trips and stays of tourists, this event has a multiplier effect, by increasing the notoriety and prestige of the Cascais region within the Gentleman Drivers segment. It is to be expected that this will lead to an increase in the activities carried out throughout the year, namely: visits by classic car clubs and an increase in the number of foreigners who see Cascais as the perfect spot to visit among family and friends; race training before participating in the events; and car reconditioning in Portugal, a fast-growing industry.

The fifth edition of Estoril Classics will take place between 8 and 10 October 2021, in Estoril, and is the only event to bring together five disciplines of Classic Cars in the same venue: historic Formula 1, Rally, Sports Cars, GT’s and of course a Concours d’Elegance.
